Wishes for NEW YEAR - Poetry by the 17th Karmapa

Wishes for the New Year
Poetry by the 17th Karmapa (seated beside HH Dalai Lama above)...

Coming from the sun of the precious Buddha
The smiling rays of luminous Dharma, precious and genuine,
Bring to blossom the lotus garden of the sangha, the supreme assembly,
May the three realms reveal all their beauty in auspicious glory.
In this new year may there be peace and prosperity on this earth
May you live long and be free from all form of sickness
May you accomplish success in everything that you do.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With prayers from Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje, Buddha year of 2049, Western Year of 2005, Tibetan 1st month and 1st day of Wood Bird Year
Like the Dark Horse
running thru the night
like the dark horse
breath turns into vapour
dissolving into starlight...
breaking thru the armour
breaking my heart
the armour reveals
the soft fabrics underneath
tying my wounds together
now im tearing at those silks
loosening the tight bundeled knots
prying pulling freeing
and discovering thru my tears
im finding impossibly beautiful
impossibly rare & precious
jewels
casting my gaze upon the pools
i am cool still waters
that run deep~
i am white ashes of melted fire...
soft & dissolving to the touch...
letting go is an illusion
as holding onto is impossible
i know i am
my family expands beyond bloodlines...
a SpiritBeing birthed in Creation
reincarnated infinitely
eyes of God
i reflect all broken bits
intertwined glints
of Perfect Lovelight
webbing the Connection of All~
i shine back the infinite blaze
& the deep shadows
of Gods face.
Each precious lightbeam
- mirrors wisdom -
for Great Spirit
is both guide and follower.
gratitude for the gift of Life
to have this brief momentary flight
on this precious Earthplane.
All is stardust
with eternal shine
embrace the darkness
as it expands infinately
inwards and out...
i am All
awakening
as there is no last sleep...
Prayer from Black Elk
That They May Face the Winds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Great Spirit,

you have been always,

And before you nothing has been.

There is no one to pray to but you.

The Star Nations all over the heavens are yours,

And yours are the grasses of the Earth.

Great Spirit, fill us with the Light.

Teach us to walk the soft Earth as relatives to all that live.

Help us, for without you we are nothing.

Great Spirit, Creator of All things,

all over the Earth the faces of living things are all alike.

With tenderness have these come up out of the ground.

Look upon these faces of children without number and with children in their arms,

that they may face the Winds with courage

and walk the good road to the Day of Quiet.

Black Elk (1863-1950)

Being as High as I Can Be

Being as High as I Can Be

i am in the Now

keeping my heart strong & clear

recognizing the love i receive

connecting with the All

knowing i am never really alone

never

honouring my feelings

pain and hope

loved and lost

held and released

embracing the Wisdom gained

strengthening my inner Pillar

the core of my Spirit

reinforcing my Faith

i am the Way

on my Higher Path

my Master says -- love best by letting go--

knowing Change is the only constant

i am blessed to have Grace and Acceptance

as my Guides

everything changing

like the tides

strong churning waves

unable to grasp the currents

speading mySelf wide

to softer shores...

water flows thru fingers.

What the Prophet Said About FRIENDSHIP

And a youth said, Speak to us of Friendship.
And he answered, saying:
Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.
When your friend speaks his mind,
you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "aye".
And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires,
all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence,
as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plains.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery,
is not love but a net cast forth:
and only the unprofitable is caught.
And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter,
and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things, the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

What the Prophet said about PAIN

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And a woman spoke, saying, Tell us of Pain.
And he said:
Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break,
that its heart may stand in the sun,
so must you know pain.
And could you keep your heart in wonder at the daily miracles of your life,
your pain would not seem less wondrous than your joy;
And you would accept the seasons of your heart,
even as you have always accepted the seasons that pass over your feilds.
And you would watch with serenity through the winters of your grief.
Much of your pain is self-chosen.
It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.
Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility:
For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender Hand of the Unseen,
And the cup he brings, though it burns your lips,
has been fashioned of the clay which the Great Potter has moistened with His own sacred Tears.
Reflections While Nude Modelling
Reflections While Nude Modelling
As i pose nude for you to draw me
i wonder
can you see qualities of me
that you cannot when i am clothed?
what am i exposing that you see
that fabrics and covers can hide?
As i pose nude before you to draw me
i consider
can you see my inner "pose"
the pillars of strength within me
that help me be so gently brave
when my heart reaches out
As i pose nude for you to draw me
i contemplate
can you see the deep jagged scars
ripped accross my young soul
that had just about tore me apart
that had for a long time, been so sore
As i lay nude beside you to touch me
i pray
can you feel the tremendous vibration
radiating passion from my core?
that wants to feel your strong hands
that perfects unattachment while we sleep...
